COMMUNITY VISITS
LIONS ASSISTANCE DOGS COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
BOOK A COMMUNITY TALK
We’re dedicated to connecting with our community and regularly engage with local groups, Lions Clubs, schools, lifestyle villages, after-school care programs, workplaces, and more. Our dedicated team will visit your group, accompanied by one of our trainee Assistance Dogs.
We offer a 30–40 minute presentation on our organisation, covering our history, current programs, and what the future holds for Lions Assistance Dogs. The session includes a live demonstration with one of our trainee Assistance Dogs, and our team is happy to answer any questions along the way. You’ll learn how our dogs are trained, how they assist people, and how you can get involved. After the presentation, once our dog’s orange uniform comes off, you’re invited to say hello and meet our Assistance Dog up close, please note that patting the dog is at the trainer’s discretion and will depend on the group and amount of people.
Bookings are highly encouraged in advance to avoid disappointment.
You can make a booking using the form at the bottom of this page, or alternatively, contact us directly to discuss.

WE CAN VISIT YOU
If your group is located within a one-hour radius of our National Training Centre in Verdun, in the Adelaide Hills, you’re welcome to submit a request for a visit. While we do not charge a formal fee for group visits, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation to support our organisation and the work we do. The timing can be flexible during business hours but keep in mind our travel time. Our team will also bring along a small selection of merchandise available for purchase—both cash and EFTPOS facilities will be available on the day. Session timing is flexible during business hours, but please keep in mind our travel time when making a request.
VISIT OUR NATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE
If you’re after a lovely trip to the Adelaide Hills, we invite groups to visit our National Training Centre in Verdun, SA. Following our presentation, visitors will enjoy a tour of our facilities and kennels, giving them the chance to explore some of the acreage we’ve proudly called home for over 40 years—and meet more of our trainee Assistance Dogs.
We can accommodate up to 30 guests indoors, with additional seating available outside for larger groups (weather permitting). Bookings are available at either 11:00am or 2:00pm.
We kindly ask for a donation of $5 per person to help support the continued development of our training programs. Merchandise is always available for purchase onsite, with all proceeds supporting our operations.
Please note: Due to our National Training Centre redevelopment, we will be unable to take onsite group bookings from 30th July 2025 onwards for the foreseeable future. Please check back in the coming months for updates.

EARLY LEARNING CENTRES, KINDERGARTENS & SCHOOLS
We offer a specially adapted presentation just for little learners, available upon request. Our team gives a short, engaging talk about our Assistance Dogs – how they help people, their Public access rights, and how to behave appropriately around them.
To make the session fun and interactive, we’re happy to include a story time using an illustrated book about Assistance Dogs. Depending on the group, we can also provide a live demonstration with one of our dogs, followed by an opportunity for the children to meet a trainee Assistance Dog. To ensure the dog’s wellbeing, we kindly ask that children approach one at a time – this will be managed by our team based on the group size and setting.
SMALL GROUP VISITS (FEWER THAN 5 PEOPLE)
If you’re simply visiting the area and would like a more personal experience, we offer guided tours of our National Training Centre for individuals or small groups (up to 5 people). One of our staff members will take you through our facilities and offer insight into how our dogs are trained to change lives. Depending on trainer availability, we may also be able to organise a short demonstration with an Assistance Dog as part of your visit.
We highly encourage bookings in advance to ensure a staff member is available to guide your tour and give you the best possible experience. Walk-ins may not be able to be accommodated.
